§ 10.16.010. Handicapped zone.

  • A.

    No person shall park a motor vehicle in a parking space designated and reserved for the physically handicapped, unless:

    1.

    Such person is physically handicapped in a manner rendering it difficult and burdensome for such person to walk, or such person was operating the vehicle under the direction of a physically handicapped person; and

    2.

    The vehicle visibly bears or contains the certificate or insignia issued to physically handicapped persons by the City or visibly bears or contains a special handicapped license plate or permit issued to physically handicapped persons by any State or City.

    B.

    Notice of such designation of handicapped parking spaces shall be given by posting appropriate signs.

    C.

    In any prosecution charging a violation of the above provisions, the owner or person or corporation in whose name said vehicle is registered shall be held absolutely responsible for said violation and subject to the penalty therefore.

    D.

    A violation of this section is punishable by a fine set by Commission resolution.
