§ 17.57.010. Legislative findings.

The City Commission makes the following findings:

1.

Historic structures on the southern periphery of the central business core represent a unique set of buildings with a long history of a mixture of commercial uses, many of which focused on light industrial and warehousing.

2.

Most light industrial and storage uses are currently prohibited on most of the properties in this overlay district.

3.

While adaptive reuses of the buildings may occur over time, it is desirable to ensure continued occupancy as a necessity to the health of the commercial area and nearby central business core through creation of an overlay district to allow certain light industrial and warehousing uses in existing buildings.
