§ 17.60.7.090. Maintenance and repair.

  • All signs, together with all types of supports including steel poles and structures, braces, guy wires, anchors, sign faces, sign cabinets, wood surfaces, plastic or sheet metal decorative trims and fasteners must be properly repaired and maintained.

    A.

    All painted surfaces must be free of rust, worn, loose and peeling paint.

    B.

    If the Director of Planning and Community Development or designee finds that any sign is not maintained in good repair and has not deteriorated more than 50% of its replacement value, he/she shall notify the sign and/or property owner and order him to repair the sign within a specified time allowing at least ten (10) calendar days.

    C.

    If the Director of Planning and Community Development or designee finds that the sign has deteriorated more than fifty (50) percent of its replacement value, or is not repaired within the time specified in the repair notice, the official will notify the owner of the sign and the owner of the real property on which said sign is located to remove the sign from the property within a specified time.

    D.

    Upon receipt of proper notification, sign removal is the responsibility of the sign owner and/or the property owner.

    E.

    Failure by the sign and/or property owner(s) to comply with a removal/repair notice will result in removal of the sign by the direction of the Director of Planning and Community Development or designee. Removal costs will be assessed against the property.
